Tropical Itch

Here is one that’s easy and boozy to get your mind to far off places. Made from scratch in 1957 by the great Harry Yee at the Hawaiian Village Hotel in Waikiki. Harry is known for this, the Blue Hawaii and the first to add a paper parasol to cocktails.
I thought this was going to be super sweet with the amount of passion fruit juice but it’s actually pretty balanced with the amount of booze and no other juices added… like lime.
There are 2 other Tropical Itch recipes.. one by Joe Scialom and one from the Kon Tiki restaurants.
Find the best one to scratch that itch.

  • 1 oz. Dark Jamaican Rum
  • ½ oz. Orange Curaçao
  • 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters

  1. Fill a hurricane glass with ice and add ingredients.
  2. Swizzle until chilled.
