Imagine yourself on a secluded beach – the wind in your hair, the warm sand beneath your feet, and the constant rhythm of the waves breaking on shore. The only thing missing is a cold, refreshing drink in your hand. Enter the Colmado Cooler. Your new favorite elevated beer.
Cultivated in the lush hills along the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, passion fruit (or Chinola, as the locals call it) grows on vines like grapes. This vibrant fruit is meticulously harvested and handcrafted into a refreshing liqueur by the same name that packs the perfect tart punch to the mouth.
Versatile enough to mix with many of your spirits and spritzers, passion fruit can also be found at the Dominican corner store (or colmado) – a place to socialize, pick up groceries for tonight’s meal (fresh ceviche anyone?), and relax with a cold Presidente – the local beer. We couldn’t get our hands on a bottle in Arizona, but found that almost any other pilsner-style brew will do. And if not, well, you have an excuse to visit the Caribbean.
