I grew up in a football house. My mother was a major Cleveland Browns fan as was her entire side of the family. They had season tickets on the 50 yard line at the old Cleveland stadium and would go to all the home games together. I never caught the football fever. Like my father with his love of racing, I knew that if I wanted my mom’s attention on game days, I had to suck it up and watch with her. Super Bowl Sunday was no exception (even though the Browns were never in the big game). Fortunately, the commercials were the best during the Super Bowl so I didn’t mind. Mom loved the commercials as well and we would rate which one was our favorite while snacking on junk food and drinking soda: two things we rarely had in the house when I was a kid. Now that Mom is gone, I still watch the big game, have snack food, and soda. I like to think Mom is watching along side me, yelling DEFENSE! at the television and enjoying the commercials right along side me. Good luck to both teams today. Cheers!
