Orgeat syrup is made from almonds, sugar, orange blossom water and/or rose water. Originally it was made from a blend of barley and almonds but it's most commonly made without barley these days. It has a strong almond taste, subtle floral notes and is an essential ingredient in countless cocktails.
The Mai Tai is easily the most famous tiki drink featuring orgeat. It's also used in cocktails such as the Scorpion, Army & Navy and the Saturn.
Making orgeat at home can be daunting for some but using this method, it makes it incredibly quick and simple. For step by step instructions, watch the video below.

Ingredients
4 Tbsp Almond Milk Concentrate
1 Cup Water
2 Cups Sugar
½ Tsp Orange Blossom Water
½ Tsp Rose Water
Directions:
Add the almond milk concentrate and water in a pot over low heat.
Stir until combined.
Add the sugar and still until dissolved (without boiling).
Remove from the stove and transfer to a sterilized bottle.
Once cooled, add the orange blossom water and rose water.
