Looking for a sophisticated Halloween sipper? The Black Widow Smash is rich, moody, and made to turn heads. Inspired by a recipe from Half-Baked Harvest by Tieghan Gerard, this eerie twist trades the usual bourbon for bold tequila (or smoky mezcal) and muddled blackberries. It’s tart, lightly sweet, and topped with sparkling water for just the right touch of fizz.
It’s easy to batch, even easier to sip, and makes a striking centerpiece for your next Halloween gathering. Whether you’re hosting a costumed crowd or just want a dramatic drink to go with scary movies and snacks, the Black Widow Smash brings seasonal flair with a dark, juicy bite.

Ingredients:
1 package Blackberries
3 oz. Tequila (Mezcal is tasty, too)
1 oz. Lemon Juice
1 oz. Agave Nectar (per serving)
2 dashes Orange Bitters
Sparkling Water (to top)
Garnish: Blackberries
Directions:
Muddle one small package (about 6 oz.) of blackberries at the bottom of your Hybrid Cocktail Shaker with freshly squeezed lemon juice and agave nectar.
Add ice, tequila and orange bitters. Shake vigorously for at least 20 seconds to combine and chill.
Muddled fruit will clog the shaker's strainer, so be sure to open the tumbler and pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a Hybrid Cocktail Glass filled with ice. Top with sparkling water.
