My first Oscar Wilde read was The Picture of Dorian Gray. It is a tale of vanity, cruelty, and morality that terrified and intrigued me. Oscar Wilde was a vain man so I wonder if this tale was one of caution or wishful thinking. What I do know is that this story made me never want my portrait painted. No need to tempt fate.
