This high octane drink is one of the many great recipes in Shannon Mustipher’s book, Tiki: Tropical Modern Cocktails and was created by Jason Alexander of Devil’s Reef in Tacoma, Washington. If you’re a fan of funky overproof Jamaican rum and Campari, you’re going love this. I happened to have the bottle suggested for this, Rum Fire is an unaged rum that is 63% abv or 126 proof. When you see the amount in this drink you might be scared away but surprisingly, it’s not overpowering or fighting with the bitterness of Campari. I used some Campari infused with strawberries for this. The cinnamon syrup is great in this as well. This is a balanced drink that’ll get ya goin. I also tried this with Doctor Bird and The Funk which are both 100 proof Jamaican rums and they are both great. Maybe try it with those if you’re not ready for to walk through the fire.
