Cocktails
Originally created in 1944 by Trader Vic in Oakland, CA. This is one of the most iconic tiki cocktails out there. It has also been butchered by bars around the world with the addition of fruit juices, fake grenadine and all the wrong rums.
This version has the classic build and features a killer blend of rums created by Kevin Crossman of Ultimate Mai Tai which features equal parts of Appleton Estate 12 Year Jamaican Rum, Plantation OFTD Rum, Plantation Xaymaca, and Smith & Cross Navy Strength Jamaican Rum.
Our friend Steve the Bartender says that this blend "makes an excellent Mai Tai" and that the recipe is a "Mai Tai for Mai Tai lovers."
I like playing around with different rum combos but this has been my go-to blend for a while. It has the right amount of funkiness, and proof that’ll let you know it’s there without getting lost in the rest of the ingredients. I batch a bottle of this blend so I always have it on hand whenever I feel like shaking up this classic. - Steve Cervantes
