Tia Mia

The Tia Mia is Mexican Mai Tai by Ivy Mix, author of Spirits of Latin America.

In the mid 2000s Ivy loved floating a splash of mezcal on a number of drinks, especially the Mai Tai. Around 2010 she created the Tia Mia and committed a full ounce of mezcal in place of the Martinique rum that is found in one of Trader Vic’s Mai Tai iterations.

Tia Mia is Spanish for “my aunt” and was a fond nickname Ivy gave to one of her regulars.
